Absolute Beginner in Tampa

Hi community. Me and my wife currently live in Europe and plan to move back to Tampa by the end of the year. We would love to buy a small house or apartment for us as well as some apartments to rent (either long term or vacation rental). Our Budget is not the biggest. the idea is, that she will work full time as an employe while I deal with the real estate. Who was / is in a similar position? How did you proceed? Where can I find nice duplex - 6 unit homes? I know loopnet.com but find the results a bit unsatisfying.
