Registration needed for long term Airbnb?

Hi Friends, does Chicago require registration on their short term rental portal for Airbnb listings longer than a month? Is this something Airbnb itself enforces when you list a place?

Check with the city and your HOA.

You don’t need to register with the city for stays over 32 days. When you attempt to list your airbnb without a registration code it will tell you this.

If you have an HOA there could be restrictions on rentals shorter than 1 year though.

No but just register it is very easy and then can do any length stays. As long as you click owner occupant its an automatic approval with no evidence of occupancy needed outside evidence you own the unit such as a tax or utility bill. Process takes 7-10 days.

Hey @Seb Ko - Negative, Chicago does not require any paper work for rentals over 30+ days.  At that point, it is considered a longer term rental in which case you should have some type of lease or signed contract that states the length of stay.

We have a mid-term rental in the south loop and using www.furnishfinder.com which has worked well.  Reach out and happy to talk through your situation.

 Hi Henry,

If I am doing arbitrage, so I am leasing the apartment (but the owner is ok with that) and applying for the permit do you know if it is still easy to get it? If It is my primary residency? Thank you!
