Keep the parquet floor or carpet it?

I'm just about finished with a rehab.  Carpet is to be installed, basically everywhere.  There is this parquet floor in the "fireplace room."  We finished it, but I don't really like it anyway.  Plus it has a deep black mark right at the threshold--couldn't sand it out.

Keep it or carpet it?
