Anybody in the Chicago have experience buying delinquent taxes?

So I’ve got my eye on a property.

And it looks like one year somebody bought the delinquent taxes and have been paying the property taxes every year since.

My question is how do you track that person down to see if they are interested in selling the property?

Also how do you figure out if they received a tax deed for the property?

I checked the Cook County Recorder of Deeds site and I’m not very experienced with understanding the info but it looks like the property was transferred from the previous owner to a trust.

But if the deed was transferred wouldn’t it also list that information?

I know it’s just about impossible to figure out an owner of a trust.

If somebody could help me out with this topic Id really appreciate it!

Thanks. :)

@Tomas Satas

I recommend contacting the county

You can say you want to pay the liens off and they can tell you who bought them.

@Tomas Satas - I am definitely no tax deed sale expert either.  The deed was probably purchased within the last year at the tax sale or scavenger hunt.  Don't quote me but I believe in Chicago, rather Cook County that there is a redemption period of either 1 or 2 years for the original owner to pay of the taxes.  If they don't start paying then the deed is transferred over at that time.

Maybe what happened is the original homeowner started to pay the taxes again?

I'd also look into www.chicagocityscape.com they have a lot of great info on the scavenger hunt and tax sale.

Hey Tomas, you might want to consider skip-tracing. It allows you to identify the person that owns the parcel/property and gives you their email/phone number, etc. But you have to pay for it.
