Looking at a property in the Charleston area that has a notation "Notice of Lis Pendens".  What's the best way to get the story on this property?  Is there an online county record website where I can do searches for properties like these?  Thanks so much.

Usually, the LP will have a case number printed on it somewhere. You need to find out where you can view those cases. Here, it is on the clerk of court website, case searches.

Following.
If you find out there is a lawsuit in the mix I would really like to see what other steps could be taken to come to a mutually agreement on the property if any.

Here is a link to help out with find information with the counties Master in Equities office, on the LP.

This link may help with the due process of acquiring that property.

Keep me updated on how it goes!
