Tax sales in Harris country

I’ve done a little looking into tax sales and was wondering if anyone has gone this route. I don’t know all the ins and outs of how you obtain this type of property and if it’s even worth it. Any thoughts?

Linda Muscarello does a tour of the auction facility and process each month at the foreclosure auctions. You should check it out.  She's been doing this for over 20 years.

With tax sales, you are purchasing liens, not the property unless the current owners don't pay the taxes within 2 yrs. During that time you incur all interest and late payments which is how you make money from them. If the property is empty, then yes its yours. Harris County holds one every 1st Tuesday of the month and you can find the list of liens (properties) to be auctioned on the county website. however, what I've learned is that the "big" business and corporation, etc have taken over the sells making it difficult for individual to stand a chance.
