Amazon Plans Massive Facility Outside of Austin
Austin Business Journal is reporting that Amazon may build another massive distribution center in Central Texas just outside of Austin. The 3.8 million-square-foot facility is planned on about 94 acres in Pflugerville just west of SH-130. This facility would be around 75% larger than Amazon's 855,000 square-foot facility in San Marcos just off of I-35. The San Marcos facility employs more than 1,500 full-time workers, though Amazon continues to introduce more and more automation into its facilities. Amazon had plans to build a similarly sized facility outside of D.C. but backed out in August due to resident opposition.
