Hi Diedre,

Owner financing in the standard form is slightly problematic in the UK. However, lease options work well there.

Do you invest outside the US?

If you were ever concerned about taxes, regulations, and consumer protection here in the States, brace yourself if you want to invest in GB

Eddie, I agree UK does have questionable taxes. There are higher levels of regulation regarding safety certificates, protection of rent deposits and evictions. But, I pleased to say that we are much more landlord / investor friendly than all other European countries (IMHO)

I have finished my mortgage adviser licence for the UK, and I have quite a good knowledge about Edinburgh market.

So, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask

My group is interested in potentially investing in Eastleigh / Southampton. Do you have any knowledge or good info in those markets?

Thanks so much!

Curious about UK rent control laws. Do they have them? What other laws make it easier/harder to landlord there?

There are relatively no rent control laws in the private sector. For social / public housing yes there are rent control rules.

The laws are similar to the more regulated housing markets in the USA. Such as New York or CA.
