Absolutely - no different than any other type of business. People are suckers for thinking an influencer actually uses the product or would promote it if they were not getting paid to promote it.

is this a serious question? of course they can, and they do. Spend 10 minutes on instagram or facebook and you'll see plenty of 'investors' pitching tech products.
