Good to see that you are exploring the business at an early age. Real Estate can be a great way to build long term wealth. You have a lot more control over your assets vs other investment vehicles. The disadvantages are that it needs management and a lot of education to be successful. Especially since it is a breeding ground for unethical practices.
You can educate yourself to minimize risks as much as possible and BiggerPockets is a great source to get information. I would also read RE books, attend seminars, go to investor meetups/clubs in your local area, etc. You want to get as much exposure as you can.
