I am leaving on deployment, and I was thinking about renting my house out for a short time. No more than 5 months. It's in a nice neighborhood. I will have a person I trust manage it while I am gone.
Does anyone have any experience on short term rentals like this?

Hey Everett,
I think it's a good idea. As an alternative to short-term rentals, try looking into "traveling nurses" as prospective tenants. They often have a requirement for shorter lease terms (around 3-6) based on the position they are filling. This might present an opportunity to reduce turnover if the timing of your deployment lines up with a rental demand.

For 5 months I wouldnt bother . Too much to go wrong and have to deal with from a distance .

How long is your deployment? Just curious, at least on the Army side, deployments are nine to ten months. I agree with @Matthew Paul short term rental for five months could cause more headaches than you want. However, the traveling nurse program is a great way to land a solid tenant if that is a possibility in your market.
Sincerely,
Josh
