Building Container Homes

Hi everyone, I'm new to real estate and becoming book smart on the subject. A few friends of mine and I have a vision of building shipping container homes. I was wondering if anyone has done it before and how the price and time compares to building stick frame etc. I got quoted for $1800 a piece on 40ft shipping containers. I know welders and machinists so I can assemble my own team for the unconventional construction. I don't know what good prices are for electric and plumbing. Any help or advice would be great!
