First of all, I'd like to apologize because I'm writing this via mobile. I just want to write it now while I have it in mind.
I normally don't take seriously things online until I had this client who asked help from me to "clean up" his name online. A month after that another client asked help because he had this negative reviews and low ratings online.
After doing some research, we found out that most of these negative reviews are not really true or have already been resolved. But the problem is, people are able to see those most often than the good ones.
People tend to find out or search more about your negatives rather than your positives. And the sad thing is most of your happy customers don't really do much effort to share their good experiences online than those who felt bad about your products and services.
Lately, I met a guy from California who is into customer satisfaction. He founded FeedbackSystems.com and some other digital marketing agencies. He mentioned to me that reputation management and generating genuine reviews are very essential more than SEO and other marketing efforts online. He added that reviews are like 2 edged swords, they can ruin a business in less than 24 hours if not handled properly and can bring more referrals and sales to your business if handled properly.
I personally feel that for me as a guy who is just starting a business and looking to build my presence online at a minimal cost, managing and generating reviews is the way to go. With this, I don't have to spend so much on building my own website and paying so much for SEO and SEM.
