I had a landscaper come out and tell me that I've got a problem with my patio installation being too high because they have to fill dirt above the siding for the wash out. Problem is the hose is in the way where the dirt needs to go and the siding ends where the framing ends. So I don't think it's good to have dirt at the level of the siding and framing because. Moisture is liable to get behind it. It is Hardie siding so that's resistant but I don't think it blocks moisture.
