What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?
Living in California and having not a lot of investing experience.
How did you finance this deal?
Conventional Loan
How did you add value to the deal?
Holding a property in the Bay Area has allowed the price to appreciate.
What was the outcome?
The value of the house has gone up by 30% since I bought it.
Lessons learned? Challenges?
I learned a lot about the home-buying process through this experience. I did not know a lot of the common terms of real-estate at the time. I feel more confident now in talking about real-estate with people. I experienced a lot of challenges that people who were fresh out of the nest would experience. I think learning how to read and understand documents was one of those challenges.
Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?
I worked with Kevin Cruz. He is an excellent agent if looking to invest in the Bay Area. He was normally working on million-dollar houses, but he was young and willing to help someone in need. Would recommend his work to anyone.
