What's the best deal you ever missed, and why did you miss it?
I'll go first.
A property came up right in my own area. The seller actually knew me; we'd crossed paths more than once, but he had no idea I invest in real estate. So when he was ready to sell, my name never entered his head. I heard about it after it had already gone to someone else. Someone, honestly, with less experience than me.
It stuck with me because the reason I lost it had nothing to do with money or skill. It was that the right person didn't know I was buying.
So I'm curious how common this is. What's the best opportunity you've watched slip past you, and when you look back, why did it really get away? Bad timing, bad luck, or something like this, where the deal was there, and the connection just wasn't?
