While driving through town I spotted a property that is in a serious state of disrepair. I would like to contact the owner an inquire about it but there is some difficult.
Tax records list a husband a wife that have thier addresses listed as the property, (it is obviously unoccupied now). I found an obituary for the husband who was 86 a few years ago. There is a sale of the house 6 months later. I am guessing he passed away and it fell into disrepair.
My issue is that the public records have not updated if it has infact been sold.
Any ideas on how to contact the owners?
What you are trying to do is called "skip-tracing". You can look online and there are various services for that.... the most sure-fired way, though, is through a private-eye... should be about $100 with a private-eye.

I asked the same question of my real estate agent and she was kind enough to do some searching and found that the property was recently sold to an LLC. She used the website "ZABA" to find the addresses and phone numbers.
This place looks good. No building permits pulled on it and it is in real bad shape.
