Starting with the basics
Greetings! My question is… after you have a general overview of REI, but still not sure how to start and where to start, what can I do on a daily basis to improve my skills set in REI? Thank you!
Consume as much information as possible. Reading, podcasts, forums; all of it will help you get to where you want to go.

First, you need to decide where you want to focus your efforts. Pick one type of investing and go all in on it. Once you master it, then choose the next one and so on. Do you want to wholesale, flip, buy and hold, etc?

Get a job in real estate with someone who is doing what you want to do. No amount of reading can replace experience.

Look all, everyone has an opinion and you can always defend and justify your opinions but that doesn't make it the right thing to do. Hear me out.. I am not offending you, I am trying to EDUCATE you and if you have the right mentality, you too can improve your business.
Mr. Tanner: Consuming information is not the same is getting experience. I am not saying blindly start doing something without any research and education. But from his post he said he has a general overview. That is enough to start taking action.
Mr Braden. It is COMPLETELY irrelevant what he decides to do, wholesaling, flipping, building a portfolio, hell... even selling bubblegum online. There is one thing you need to do and that is getting leads. As he works on the lead generating aspect of things, he WILL find his niche... BUT doing the lead generation now, first will enable to do both in parallel instead of in series, which means success much sooner and much stronger!
Mr Nick.. Correct. You get a golden star. EXPERIENCE IS WHAT COUNTS
Now here is my advise to you (all) ... and know one thing about me. I NEVER just post an "opinion" everything I say or claim on this forum is backed with logic, reason., numbers and data.
Now
NO MATTER WHAT you plan to do... you need leads. You run out of toilet paper and you have a poopie butt... you need leads! Your dog is making dogtracks all over your brandnew carpet as he happily tongue out smilyface skids all over the floors walls and ceilings... you need LEADS. Your car doesn't start and you are stranded on a boat in the middle of the ocean trying desperately to start the car... YOU NEED FRIGGIN LEADS!!!
Getting leads when you are just starting, will take a bit of effort AND TIME. This is what you can do NOW... WHILE you listen to podcasts, and read on things.
Look all... getting education is .. mehhhh ok... BUT doing something... getting stuck, and THEN educating yourself, researching, and fixing what you are stuck with... THAT is what I call experience. Mindless and blindly "collecting" information and store it in your head is not efficient. If you don't use and apply that info it will be lost in 3 days.
Build a website. Work on credibility. THINK THINK THINK.. use intelligence THAT is the secret weapon for me that got me where I am now. Be blunt, direct aggressive, focus on the goal, be laser focused on the path to reach that goal, and THAT is what you do.
As promised, data, logic numbers and results right?
OK then:
This is the DIRECT result from that advise I have given you. All leads free, extremely motivated and I don't do ANYTHING to get them (all the work has been done 5 years ago on my website).

Check your market - see what’s sold and how long it took to sell. See what’s on the market and compare houses in your area. Connecting with other investors, lenders and contractors.
@Tanner Sherman thank you for your response greatly appreciate it!
@Nick C. Agreed thank you! But everyone I ask are busy. I’m always left to figure it out on my own.
@Nick C. Most professionals are busy and how can I add value and make the most of their time?
@Nick Rutkowski thank you!
@Jerryll Noorden thank you! I do feel that , stuck on learning and very eager to take some form of action. I want to do some activities but I don’t know what simple activities I can do everyday to start building momentum and gain more experience. But you clarified it for me. In sales, you need to get in front of a customer. You don’t have your pitch perfect when starting off but the more you talk to a client , the better you get at making a sale and I think that is what your saying, I need leads. Direct mailing, D2D? List source? Thank you!

I am very against DMM and anything to do with a list, however that doesn't mean it can't get you a deal. It is just very inefficient. That said, to get your first deal, and fast, do what ever that can get you one, AS LONG as you have a credible website to drive your traffic to with your marketing (DMM, Cold Calling etc.. budget).
ONLY when you have a credible website ... only then should you start actually marketing! If not you are literally throwing money away!
@Nick Rutkowski this activity is opening my eyes thank you!
@Alexander Estefan
No problem. Glad to help you out. Happy Hunting!
