Insurance agent/provider for 1988 property in Broward County

Hello

We are rookies and are about to close on our first investment property in Broward county in Florida. It is approx. 1900 sq ft, was built in 1988 and has polybutylene pipes. We are having trouble finding an insurance provider willing to cover us. So far we have one quote from Citizens for $4500 - which I think is very high.

I would appreciate if anyone has advice regarding insurance providers and how to manage insurance costs

Thanks.

Jeff

@Jeff Miller I think Citizens will be your only option. Most insurance companies won’t cover poly pipes at all if the building is older then 30 years. We don’t have many options here in South Florida these days. $4500 sounds about right to be honest.

@Jeff Miller, I use Florida Family Insurance for my primary residence in Boca.  I'm sure they have investment options.

Also, who is the current seller using?  I'd give them a call.
