Home Owners Association vs Condominium

What is the difference between HOA and Condo? I was under the impression that HOA is just Home Owners Association that consist of Board of Directors, Manager, and Managing company, and it can manage Condo, Townhomes or Single Family Homes.

You are correct an HOA typically manages a condo complex, sometimes it will be referred to as a condo association but this is uncommon

 Thank you!

In Florida a Condo HOA is governed by State Statute 718, and non-condo HOA's are governed by Statute 720. There are some distinct differences between the two sets of rules.
