Amazon Facility in Wilmington, NC
https://wilmingtonbusinessdeve...
This is an older article, but for anybody investing in Wilmington, NC this is good news from a job growth perspective. If you don't feel like reading the article, Amazon is opening a distribution center in Pender Commerce Park in 2023. Definitely not a bad thing to have Amazon moving in to town.
This is great news for the area. Thanks for sharing!
@Brian Rogan
I thought that got nixed?

Jason,
You might be right. I'm finding conflicting articles on the subject.
But.... on the same job growth subject, a large GE Hitachi facility is also going up in Castle Hayne.
Useful Information, I didn't know about GE! Thanks!
Hello, I am a passive investor in syndicates and have lived in Wilmington about two years. I am leaving my W2 to be an active GP...am interested in making some local connections. Are there any commercial real-estate meet up groups or networking events that anyone is aware of?
@Anne Leanos
Hey Anne, congrats! I’m a local flipper, and I own a couple smaller complexes. I intend on going full time next year as well. Shoot me a message if you want to do breakfast or lunch one day. I always enjoy meeting other local investors.
There are several local meetups, but the only one specific to commercial investing that I’m aware of it the one hosted by the Nomad Capital folks. It’s the first Thursday of every month at 5:30pm at the Flying Machine Brewery.
Also, I'll be speaking at the Costal Carolina REIA meetup November 8th at 6:15pm at 1826 Sir Tyler Drive in Wilmington, but there isn't a focus on commercial. Feel free to come hang out if you'd like!
I'll be looking to invest in the area likely next year. Side question- my son is 95% likely going to UNCW and I'll be looking for a househack. Anywhere I should avoid? Also if anyone went to or has kids at UNCW I'd love to hear your experience. He's majoring in marine biology, so the coastal setting is a huge plus over other schools we looked at in NC.
Don't let him live or buy at Campus Edge condos on Racine, it's all junkies and is hella sketchy.

And this is why I love the forums! I just saw a listing there, so I'll know to avoid.
Campus Edge is not great because it's full of college students, they only allow college students so it can be a bit of a party scene, but there are nice properties over in that area if you know where to look. :)
I don't need to bring the party to him, he's in college to study 24/7, right ?!? (I can picture his eyeroll as I type)
Alicia Matt is right, I stand corrected. I should've made sure I had the right complex before commenting! Oh... and I love your comment!! So funny lol.
Quote from @Alicia Marks:Good idea Alicia. I'm curious what route you want to use to house hack with your son living there? Buying an apartment and renting out the other bedrooms seems like it could be a good idea but you may not build the equity like you would in a home. Still a great way to save money/potentially make some extra cash flow.

I'm looking at a SFH option.
