Finance company controls my insurance money
I had major water damage to my home. After a long battle with insurance company they finally paid out. They issued the check payable to my mortgage company and me. The end result is the mortgage company gets total control even though my house is mostly paid off.
The mortgage company is more fixated on having specific forms etc than on getting my house fixed. They say I will receive a check in less than 7 days, and 10 days later I find they just sent the check yesterday.
Its too late now, but in the future if disaster strikes again is there ANY way to have insurance company bypass the mortgage company, and make check out to me only?
