To be Successful You Have to Be Passionate About Your Goals!

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about buying a Lamborghini and how real estate helped me accomplish that goal.  I had wanted a Lamborghini since I was a young child and it felt amazing actually sitting in my Lamborghini and driving it after I bought it.

I know one reason I was able to buy that car was how much I wanted it and how much I thought about it.  I mentioned in my article that I had a screen shot of a Lamborghini Diablo on my iPhone.  Every time I looked at my phone I saw a blue Diablo and that made me think about what I needed to do to get that car.

Why was the Lamborghini Such a Great Goal?

Many people questions the purchase of a $100,000+, especially on a website that is dedicated to creating passive income.  I understand why people would think it was the dumbest thing someone could ever do.  I still did it and I have no regrets, in fact I love it more than I thought I would.

Many people don’t care about cars except as a form of transportation.  I am a car guy and I love cars; probably more than I love real estate.  I have been buying sports cars since highs school and modifying them to go faster.  My daily driver for ten years was a 1991 Ford Mustang convertible with a 5.0 liter engine and five speed transmission.  I installed a supercharger on the car along with headers, X pipe, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump and a bunch of other goodies myself.  I doubled the horsepower and still have the car, which has 140,000 miles on the original engine.

Most of you have no idea what I am talking about, but that is okay because you aren’t passionate about cars.  My point is that I am passionate about cars and having a goal like buying a Lamborghini got me excited every day.  I imagined myself driving the car, what it would sound like and even smell like.  Thinking about buying a Lamborghini helped me make my business better, work harder and work smarter.

What Do You Love in Life that Gets You Excited?

We all have interests and things we are drawn to in life.

Most of us learn to dismiss those interests early in life if they are too expensive or not the norm in society.  I know I dismissed the idea of buying a Lamborghini for years, because I didn’t think I would ever be able to buy one.  My money attitude was very poor; I thought only the lucky rich people could buy cars like that.  I didn’t think to myself how can I be that lucky rich person that owns a Lamborghini.

Once I got it  into my head that it was possible to buy one, it didn’t take me long at all.  If there is something you have always wanted it always wanted to do, don’t be afraid to have a dream and pursue that dream.  That dream is what could propels you to unbelievable success.

Why Does Having a Big Dream Help You Succeed?

There is a scientific reason why big dreams and big goals help you succeed.

The more you think about something, the better chance you have of getting it.  Our subconscious mind will help is get what it thinks we want.  If you constantly thing of something, there is a better chance you will have ideas and see opportunities that will help you get what you think about.

Buying a Lamborghini was not just about making enough money to buy the car, but finding the right car, getting it at the right price and keeping my eyes open for opportunity.  I searched websites that had cars for sale everyday as well as eBay to learn what prices were and how many cars were for sale at any given time.

I was not planning to buy a Lamborghini until the end of 2014 at the earliest, but the perfect car came up for sale and I could not pass it up.  I am sure I would not have gotten such a perfect car for me if I had waited and it would have been more expensive as well.

I already see prices rising on the cars and inventory decreasing since I bought mine.  If I had not been constantly thinking of the car and passionate, I would have waited until the end of the year to buy it and then it may have taken another 6 months or year to find one.

My New Passionate Dream

In my Lamborghini article I talked about buying a Lamborghini Muira as my new passionate goal.

I think we always have to have a big goal that we are passionate and think about.  Once I bought the Lamborghini Diablo I had to come up with something else to be passionate about!

However, buying a Muira has not been nearly as real or exciting for me as when I wanted the Diablo.  I am not sure why the Muira has not been as exciting, but I found something that was exciting this last week.

I have always been drawn to extremely old mansions.  I have thought it would be extremely cool to restore an old plantation or mansion someday.  To do this it would take a boat load of money and the freedom to be able to travel and live in another area.  There are not old, large mansions in Northern Colorado.

For some reason I stumbled upon an old mansion online and it reminded me of my dream to restore a house someday.  This new dream got me excited and enthusiastic about researching mansions and thinking about how cool it would be to restore one and then open it up for tours to the public.

This would be a long-term goal or at least at this point it would seem to be a long-term goal.  I thought buying a Lamborghini would be a ten-year goal 18 months ago and things changed quickly!

What Gets You Excited?

What is it that makes you excited about life?

What drives you to succeed and can make you stay up into the wee hours of the morning trying to figure out how you can make it happen?  Too many of us bury our dreams instead of make them happen.  Don’t let others tell you want will make you happy and what is best for you.  Chase your dreams and let them bring you along for the ride.
