My Top 10 BiggerPockets Podcast Episodes (with Number of Listens)

Holy schnikes! (Yes, I just said “schnikes.”)

The BiggerPockets Podcast has just surpassed the quarter-millennium mark—in terms of number of podcast episodes, that is. That’s 250 podcasts! With each one an average of one hour and 15 minutes, that’s 300+ hours of podcast listening, or over 12 days straight of content. With a new one coming out each week, it will likely to take at least a year to catch up.

Since most people will not take the year-long commitment to listen to every one (though I advise it), I am going to help you out. Since I am the keeper of all of the podcast data and have listened to every single one, I figured it would be nice to share my top 10.

Note that this is NOT just a top 10 in terms of listens. It is my subjective opinion, which just so happens to have significant overlap with the top 10 in terms of listens. However, I will warn you that there are some in the unbiased top 10 that did not make my top 10. For those, scroll to the bottom where I will present you with the top 10 in terms of listens.

So enough of my talking, let’s get into it.

My Top 10 BiggerPockets Podcast Episodes (with Number of Listens)

1. Podcast #157: A Simple Morning Ritual to Dominate Every Area of Your Life with Hal Elrod // 226,329 listens

If you can’t already tell by this blog post here, this podcast has had the greatest impact on me. Hal Elrod, author of The Miracle Morning, studies the morning routine of all high achievers and discovers a pattern. They all do at least two or three of the six SAVERS, which he describes in the episode. Doing all six creates the perfect morning routine, which I do every morning. It has changed my life.

2. Podcast #223: How to Become Set for Life Through House Hacking, Frugality, and Maximizing Your Income with Scott Trench // 391,252 listens

I promise Scott did not pay me to choose his podcast. It actually has the 3rd most views all time to prove its legitimacy. In this episode, Scott scrapes the surface of his book, Set for Life. He provides a guideline towards financial freedom through house hacking, frugality, and increasing your income. This is great for a Millennial or those just getting started on the journey.

3. Podcast #200: Step by Step to Buying Your First Real Estate Investment with Brandon Turner & Josh Dorkin // 405,103 listens

This podcast has the most views and rightfully so. If you’re even a little bit interested in investing in real estate, this is a must-listen. It goes through the step-by-step process of buying that first property.

4. Podcast #238: Becoming a Real Estate Millionaire on a Teacher’s Salary with Michael “Swanny” Swan // 391,392 listens

Michael Swan goes into how he invests in a very expensive market (San Diego) on just a teacher’s salary. He has used strategies such as liquidating his retirement to buy his first few deals, and he’s been able to “trade up” to acquire millions of dollars in real estate simply using his teacher pay. So, for all of you naysayers with medium to lower paying jobs who “can’t afford” to invest in real estate, there is a way—and this episode is for you.

5. Podcast #108: Building a $350M Real Estate Empire Using the 10x Rule with Grant Cardone // 389,706 listens

Grant Cardone reigned the most viewed list for quite some time. However, he was recently dethroned by Scott Trench and Michael Swan. Grant is one of the most motivational speakers I’ve encountered. In this episode, he talks about how most people don’t think large enough. By 10-Xing your goals, you are able to realize your full potential.

For example, if your goal is to acquire $10M of real estate, why not 10-X that goal and try to accomplish $100M? If you don’t achieve that $100M goal and only achieve $70M, you’re still 7x better off than if you were just to invest in $10M. Side note, this episode can get vulgar and is definitely NOT one of BiggerPockets’s G-rated podcast episodes. I’d suggest watching this while the kids are at school or baking cookies with grandma.

Grant Cardone was also on show #250. This was another good episode, but has not had the time to garner the views yet. I would suggest also listening to that one as well.

6. Podcast #196: LLCs, House Hacking, and Saving on Taxes with Brandon Hall // 311,108 listens

Taxes are the possibly one thing people are afraid of more than death. Just kidding—but seriously. Brandon Hall helps ease your frustrations and answers a ton of tax-related questions on this episode. He goes into house hacking, LLCs, S-Corps, bookkeeping, and so much more. He is also very easy to listen to, so putting this one in the top 10 was a no brainer.

BONUS: Linda Weygant on show #244 also does a GREAT job talking about taxes. I didn’t want to put two tax episodes in the top 10 so I decided to give you a bonus. She has not had the time to garner the views, as the episode is only a couple of months old. Linda, like Brandon, is extremely articulate. Plus, she’s funny and makes taxes sound easy.

7. Podcast #152: Building Wealth and Passive Income with Rental Properties with Ben Leybovich, Brian Burke, and Surge Shukhat // 246,355 listens

I LOVE this episode. Why? Because it’s got three very knowledgeable investors packed in to 1.5 hours of greatness. They all do very different things, and it’s great to hear their different perspectives on how they use rental properties to build wealth and passive income.

8. Podcast #11: The Ultimate Beginners Guide Podcast with Josh Dorkin & Brandon Turner // 333,706 listens

If you can’t tell, I really enjoy the episodes that ease the nerves and encourages the newbies to take action. This is one of those episodes. Josh and Brandon provide a very broad overview on how to get started in real estate and how people make money. Josh and Brandon walk you through the steps to take before getting started—choosing your strategy, ideas for finding properties, tips for getting financing and much more. There’s a lot of great information in here for the new investor.

9. Podcast #77: Negotiating Your Way to 1,000 Wholetail Real Estate Deals with Michael Quarles // 208,590 listens

One of the things I need to work on most is negotiation. Negotiating is uncomfortable. It feels like you are taking advantage of the other party, but that is not always the case. Michael Quarles discusses how he goes into negotiations and how he creates a win-win situation for both him and the party he is negotiating with. If negotiation is one of your weaknesses, this is a must-watch episode.

10. Podcast #245: Creating Wealth that Lasts Generations with Bestselling Author Ryan Holiday // 134,690 listens

Ryan Holiday is a boss. At 30 years old, he has written multiple books, including The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumphir?t=biggerpocke0a 20&l=am2&o=1&a=1591846358, and is creating wealth for his family that will last generations. Ryan and I have similar goals, which is why he rounds out my top 10.

This show scrapes the surface on a variety of topics that include hard money lending, vacation rentals, and writing books. It really got my wheels spinning on all of the different ways to increase my income to create long-term wealth. I feel like my wisdom points increased by ten-fold after listening to this episode. A must see!

Conclusion

Picking this top 10 was actually one of the hardest things I did this week. There are 250 episodes out there, and it felt nearly impossible to just pick 10. Still, these are my top 10. I understand that not everyone is going to agree with my top 10. That’s fine because I wrote this article. This is MY TOP 10.
