Just be aware that every security system provider I've dealt with has an indemnity clause in it that requires the homeowner to pay the legal fees for the alarm company should a party sue the alarm company as it relates to your house...ie. a burglar breaks in to your house, is startled by the alarm and cuts himself severely, then sues the alarm company.

I talked with several of them:- One guy was curious how much rent costs and could he dig expired canned food out of our dumpster- One girl keeps coming back looking for a previous tenant who was arrested + evicted right before I closed on this place - I got startled when she was looking in my window at 6:30 am this morning!

But the high crime, police corruption and overall lack or resources to solve crimes is something to consider for anyone looking to invest or live there as an expat, without a doubt.For the most part the people are very friendly, peaceful and welcoming, but after spending some time there you start to hear about some awful things that happen behind the scenes that tourists are unaware of and which go completely unpunished, which wouldn't happen in a developed country and might be startling for someone used to having more consistent law enforcement.
