So, I ended up paying $65,000 total to their attorney to settle and that was only $37,500 for each employee minus their attorneys' fees and costs plus my attorney fees was $75,000 plus $10,000 for one day of mediation on Zoom.I am just trying to make this clear so property owners can protest their self by getting workers comp and EPLI insurance and then spend a few minutes to have workers sign forms saying they are taking their breaks and getting Wage Earning Statements.In California, I could not find canned wage earning statements that are legal.

@Matthew John if you properly disclosed the situation, in writing (preferably in the lease), to the lower tenant and they signed the contract, then they are legally bound.That doesn't stop them from protesting if and withhold rent - as you've learned.

They just want to keep the money train rolling.So the end strategy is that you've got to be INCREDIBLY careful in how you invest...you've got to understand how to protest your tax rate...how to go in front of the board of review, how to make your case, how to appeal the new assessment.
