We lived in the Surf Rider apartments between Liverpool and Lido, but had friends up and down the beach renting in similar situations.

But the values, lifestyle tempo, less traffic if you're local, surf if that's your passion (it's mine) and just a more laid back and down to Earth mindset with San Diego overall is certainly worth a look.
