Seattle is great for allowing ADU's and DADU's on nearly all lots larger than 3,200 sq ft, essentially giving all houses the potential to be legally converted into triplexes!

This results in more buildable area, larger yards for both the ADU and the DADU, more privacy, and better accessibility (if the back alley provides parking access for the DADU)3.

Building a DADU does not require subdividing the lot, and as Seattle DADU rules are incredibly generous ( 3200 sq ft minimum lot size, typically less than 35% lot coverage, 5 ft setbacks unless there is alley access, then 0 lot line ), a lot of lots in Seattle are well positioned for DADU's.
