And that was fair because they wanted the money to help some poor politician out that had to drive a two year old car and needed a raise to cover a new one, or some other worthy public need.I did this for several years as a side activity and one day a county supervisor said to me, do you know how much your costing the county each year?  

That's what politicians do to justify their existence - make more laws.

Who says only Dr's and politicians can do junkets?

He also has plenty of other properties in the surrounding communities.He is one of the godfathers of development in this county and has relationships with many of the politicians and other seasoned developers.  

So, IMO, unless you are a good politician and have money for unnecessary repairs at the Corps whim, I wouldn't suggest you go into that business.What is a great business, is the boat dock repair business and building new docks.

Seattle was plenty liberal when I moved there, but the politicians were still living in reality, and trying to actually make things functional.

The Social Security Fund is going to be bankrupt (provided that no plan has been put to extend it) and in my home state, Illinois, the politicians borrowed from the pension fund and never paid the money back.

Consider a combat veteran that was overseas in the trenches getting shot at while the politician who sent them was chilling in the a/c getting paid more.  

And this is why politicians don't make a lot of sense.
