If all operators are crooked, where do you place your money when seeking a quality risk adjusted return, along with tax advantaged benefits?

I reached out to another smaller lender who states they can get me the total amount i'm seeking with a lower rate. 

Or is there some tool out there that makes this comparison process less painful that I just haven't discovered yet?
