My understanding also was he was not investing in notes - you as an investor received a promissory note but his investments were broadway plays, crypto, membership groups etc if I recall (someone can correct me).

No clearer sign that this was going to be a disaster - someone claiming expertise in e-commerce, real estate, Broadway shows, and crypto.  

I know it will be challenging to do all of this while a student, but I also believe that now is the best time to get started.I have about 10k saved up in cash, stocks, and crypto, and I also plan on getting a job serving or catering while I am at school.

I wish I had 1) purchased more 2) taken a little less cash flow for better areas.I never invested in crypto, but after trump backed crypto it sure seemed like a near certainty that icrypto would go up in the near term.

Never had anything like this ever before on BP, and now it's literally every time I log into BP and a flip of the coin if a page will load or error.

I'd coin them torniquets, as in they stem the bleeding but sure as heck don't prevent it. 

On the other side of the coin, a 0.50% difference in interest rate is also negligible on a loan that small...

You can also invest using both crypto and fiat currency.
