Rick Colquhoun Service Dogs...are they "pets"?
25 March 2015 | 9 replies
Another example of a reasonable accommodation would be if they are in a wheelchair and they need an assigned parking spot close to their apartment, or a bar installed in the bathroom to help them get in and out of the tub.So, you can't charge them anything for the service animal, because they are not a "pet" they are a medical device, basically. You do not have to accept an animal that would create a financial hardship - for instance if it was a pit bull and you would lose your insurance if you had a pitbull on the property.

Account Closed Senior citizen programs like housing authority's Section 8s?
29 December 2015 | 5 replies
There are other assisted living programs which help seniors alter their homes (stair lifts, wheel chair ramps, etc) so they may remain in them longer. In Manitoba, you have Manitoba Housing which provides similar subsidized housing programmes (though, if I recall, MB Housing owns their own buildings ... some provinces - NB for one - no longer do that, but provide coupons to subsidize housing with private landlords).
