The most common problem is a missing or un-punched drain plug in the new garbage disposal.Common Cause: Un-Punched Drain Plug 🔌Garbage disposals are often manufactured with an internal plug that must be knocked out or punched out before connecting the dishwasher drain hose.If the handyman installed the disposal and connected the dishwasher drain hose without removing this plug, the wastewater from the dishwasher has nowhere to go.The water is pumped into the sealed disposal unit, backs up into the drain hose, and then flows back into the lowest point—the bottom of the dishwasher tub—causing it to pool.Other Potential Issues 🛠️While the drain plug is the most likely culprit, other installation-related issues could contribute to the pooling:Improper High-Loop or Air Gap: The dishwasher drain hose is usually routed in a high loop under the sink or connected to an air gap on the countertop.
