This same "homeowner" mentality is then carried over to REI, and they lose...but don't know it.Money, your own money, or your seed money (wherever it came from) is a verb.  

He will probably want to stay off of the freeways since they are bumper to bumper most of the day, and driving in the rain is hazardous to good mental health, so living close to work will be a good choice.

Provide these people a job--almost any kind of job that they are physically and mentally able to do. 

Folks that insist on letting me know their religious preferences generally just get a mental eyeroll as I really listen to what they are saying.Had a couple of sisters rent a condo from me.

Getting into the 'real estate never goes down' mentality can be pretty dangerous.

I am bothered by those landlords in Japan that have a small island/closed-minded mentality. 

Knowing and acknowledging this mental barrier helped.  

Since there is not a monolithic cause, there cannot truly be a form of investing that perfectly hedges against each.That said, what I like about self-storage and B&C class multifamily is that they can perform in a stable market cycle but they also can profit on a down cycle because of what happens to consumer mentality in a pinch. 

I don't assume its all or even most, but there are plenty with hateful mentalities.
