Google is constantly changing their formulas to reward the sites with the best content and information, not the sites that spend the most money (unless they are directly paying for advertising on Google).

I haven't found many that constantly monitor email, so I wouldn't necessarily use that as a deciding factor unless you absolutely have to communicate by email.
