In addition to the basic restoration criteria outlined above, a veteran may obtain restoration of the entitlement used on a prior VA loan under any of the following circumstances: the prior VA loan has been paid in full and the veteran has made application for a refinance loan to be secured by the same property which secured the prior VA loan.

The fees should be basic; an application fee to start underwriting (I would say $500 or less is appropriate depending on the circumstances of the borrower and deal (meaning how complicated and time intensive the deal is)) and the origination fee, which can be anywhere from 1% - 2.5% for rental property  loans.

Just bought a 3000 sqrft house 2 family for 15k, we posted a craigslist ad to get a pulse on 2 bed 1 baths in a 2 fam setup because our only building in the area is the 14 unit and we received 14 applications in 3 days.

@Sung Park, very interesting, I will admit that I haven't heard of that product, though it looks like its application is somewhat specific in terms of who or where may qualify.Could one use this product to purchase a 2-4 unit, live there for the required length of time, and then purchase another 2-4 unit using low-down payment FHA financing?

There are plenty of duplex and quads in that downtown area, so may not be a problem but need to see what the zoning and master plan say for the property.For starts, do you think starting with the 1% rule is applicable to such a specialty building?
