Before it was all the same beige brick color.  

Big tiles go down fast but errors stick out like a sore thumb, as does less than flat floors or out-of-square walls.

I really like the look and the style and colors lend themselves well to the area, but the prices are really high ($50+ SF for materials) based on the few calls I've made.  

Make sure the tenants understand that the hoses stay with the prop when they move outIf I pay the water I always put a few drops of food color in the toilet tanks to check for leaksMake sure the bath fan and drier are properly vented.

That attitude  will color the look and feel of your finished product.  

Don't have a super strong opinion here, though condos at lower prices tend to have the issues that always come with shared spaces/common areas and shared walls.  

And, you're right, the drawings on the walls and mess is a clear indication that the damage was intended to be directed at the landlord, not the spouse.

Moving electrical outlets, changing the plumbing to have a double sink instead of a single, moving walls, etc etc etc...

If I had the money I would put a nice/cheap backsplash on the wall and a nice counter and cheap but nice tiles.
