After a decade in the software industry and a routine of tuning in to the BiggerPockets podcast during my commutes, I found myself captivated by the world of real estate. My journey started in my early 20s when the idea of real estate investing intrigued me. However, the overwhelming nature of where to begin led me to shelve the idea temporarily. Fast forward to 2020 - amidst a global pandemic - I revisited my interest in real estate through podcasts and committed to acquiring at least one property. It became a goal, a challenge to myself, and an opportunity to test the waters. Initially eyeing a duplex, I found myself unsatisfied with the potential cashflow. Patience became my virtue, and after a year of diligent search and analysis, I closed my first deal - a six-unit property in Lewiston Maine. Little did I know that my first foray into real estate would involve managing a six-unit building, but the learning experience has been beyond my expectations. Shortly after, I crossed paths with someone in my network who happened to be selling properties. They offered a six-unit with seller financing, and a few months later, I sealed the deal on my second property in Greene, Maine. Currently, I own and manage two six-unit buildings, each teaching me invaluable lessons in the real estate game. In 2023, I temporarily hit pause on my investing journey, but I'm gearing up for an exciting 2024, eager to add more buildings to my portfolio. Real estate has become more than an investment; it's a passion, a journey of continuous learning, and I can't wait to see where it takes me next.
