Hey everyone, I’m a 21 year old fresh graduate majoring in health sciences from the University of South Florida. For 3 years I was in pursuit of getting into a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and I succeeded. I started school this summer and from the get go I knew I had made a mistake. From the moment I walked into orientation before I had started school, I heard individuals who were in the field for 20+ years, recent graduates, and current students talk about the field they put so much time into and I became disinterested as it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. I was doing well in my courses, but it wasn’t something I wanted to do anymore and left the program before I wasted anymore time. I thought about what else I would be interested in and a light bulb went off in my head and I immediately thought construction. The funny thing is I switched from a construction management major to health science major my first year of undergrad. I am now looking to gain valuable experience and knowledge over the next couple of years with the intention of getting my General Contractors license. The path may very well be difficult due to the lack of a background in construction, but I’m willing to take whatever steps necessary to achieve my goal.
