Current IT management consultant with a full-time job looking to begin my investment career in real estate (thinking Chicago suburbs / Milwaukee / Indianapolis). I'm looking for buy and hold multi-family properties to rent for passive cash flow as an alternative retirement strategy to stocks. Experience: Unfortunately none... for now. I've spent much free time since June 2019 reading as many real estate books as I can and listening to the bigger pockets podcast beginning with show # 1. I'm already at show # 45 just two months into my learning. To gain experience, I'm getting the terminology down and looking to do small updates to my own condo as a way to better understand how to fix up properties. I'm also playing around with estimators to grasp which properties make great deals so that things will be a bit easier when I purchase that first property. Real Estate Goals: I'd like to purchase my first buy and hold property by spring 2020. My goal is to have enough multi-family rental properties by 2030 that I can quit my job and replace my earned income with passive rental income. Currently Seeking: Besides my first rental property, individuals willing to share their experience with a novice. I'm very eager to get my feet wet and absorb everything like a sponge!
