I am a practicing architect in Minnesota, and plan on using real estate as an additional source of income and building wealth for the future. My short-term strategy is to start with wholesaling and fix & flips to build up cash reserves, and eventually include some buy and hold investments for passive income. A major part of my professional background is assembling and managing teams of multiple disciplines to get things done. As an architect, I have direct experience in the construction industry and with estimating repair costs. But most importantly, I know my limits and it is best to have others on your team to help get things done better and more effectively than I would on my own. The “why” of this for me is more than just about making money. I enjoy new challenges, the hunt for new opportunities, finding creative ways to solving problems, and creating lasting value by making things. Working in a local community that I am familiar with and have a stake in is also important to me. Although I love my work as an architect, I am not interested in this for new design opportunities – I know enough about myself and this business to avoid that. I plan to use my experience to my advantage where it makes the most sense. I appreciate the nine core beliefs of BiggerPockets, and they match up very well with my own values. I’m looking forward to connecting and sharing my experiences with other members.
