Realtor in North Lake Tahoe area & beginner real estate investor: we have eight rental properties in Kansas and Missouri. Next, we'd like to grow our portfolio in Reno/Carson/Sparks NV areas. I am in sales for a residential developer and am learning a ton on the new home development side. Most importantly, I'm an Operations Manager (a Mom). I try to run a tight ship, but I know who really has the reins {them}. Financial Independence for my family, and wanting a source for passive income is what lead me to BiggerPockets and real estate investment. Since we are from California, we are looking out-of-state for investing in rental properties, because we cannot make the math work for local properties if we'd like to be cash flow positive. I've read countless books, spent hundreds of dog-walking hours on the bigger pockets podcast to study up before I felt ready to make our first purchase. I still to this day listen to a podcast or two each week - it reminds me that I better keep buying houses so that my future self can travel!
