Im very excited about join this great community. I was never really into real-estate but have always had an entrepreneurial mind set. I realized this of myself when I was in high school. What I can consider my first business was my one man operation, lollipop business, I would sell lollipops out of my backpack at school. During high school I had a friend who would DJ at house parties. I thought to myself I like music, I like parties, I like making money why don't I do that? So with the help of my dad I did just that. I DJ'd for 3 to 4 years, it was fun but I was the only one that operated it. I then Joined the Army Reserves left to Basic and I stopped with the DJ'ing. After that I was in a Entrepreneurial hiatus and bounced around from job to job. Fast forward 2010 I earned myself a career with the Federal Government. I then started to think about way to invest my money, and my Entrepreneurial mindset kicked back on. I then started to look for things I could invest in but since I didn't have much money saved up I felt I couldn't do much. In 2013 I decided to buy my first house and house hack by having roommates. It worked, for about 9 months. All my roommates left and my girlfriend moved in. I noticed how great it was to rent out to friends so I started to look for how I can make this work for me outside of my primary house. I had heard about vacation rentals and it sparked my interest. I then began to do research on short term rentals but I couldn't get much info. from a single source it was all over the place. I then found a podcast focusing on vacation rentals but for some reason I couldn't find it anymore. One day after on a podcast search to try and find something on real-estate, I came upon Bigger Pockets. I thought let me give this a listen, I swiped through the episodes and landed on Episode 100. This is the real reason I decided to jump in and begin investing in the world of real-estate. Just like it was mentioned time and time again, How do I start in real-estate? Just start, So I did. I started looking for a good location to start my property search. I talked to my girlfriend about all the ideas and how I would need her support and help to operate the rental. she hesitated for not having an understanding for real-estate nor knowing what she need to do, but she evantually agreed. Shortly after I found a great property in South Padre Island. We went to go see it, we put in an offer, and got it under contract that same day back in March 2015. We are finally renting out the condo and it going great. My girlfriend is learning the business very well and has been a tremendous help. Now I know that if I can do this with all the resources I have at my disposal I can do just about anything. Thank You Bigger Pockets.
