"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." I am an experienced, focused, and hard working rental property owner and licensed real estate agent in Northeast Connecticut. Starting in the business of real estate my idea was to buy foreclosures and flip houses with a friend. The long term buy and hold multi family investment idea never interested me until I got licensed in real estate and really started seeing behind the scenes. Realtors, bankers, and attorneys in the local area owned rental properties and shared with me their success stories. Hearing about their success and their positive experiences opened my mind to the idea. "If they can do it, why can't I?" After getting mentally prepared to start the investment journey I started utilizing any spare time to learn from a mentor. Best thing ever! If any of you are lucky enough to find a successful, experienced mentor, it will provide so much value. Certainly can say with confidence, I've benefited most from the experience of being mentored by a honest, hardworking, local, successful, and professional landlord. Being able to bounce ideas off someone who has seen it all and been through the good and bad has been paramount to my success. As of today my wife and I own 24 units, which we self manage. We enjoy every minute of it and get great pleasure providing clean, safe, and well cared for units to the tenants that rent from us.
