Real estate has been great to me and my family ,but when they say expect the unexpected I had no idea I would see or hear some of the bizarre things I have in real estate! We aren't even 2 weeks into 2010 and I have been on a streak of good deals and a streak of oddness to say the least. Everyone likes to talk about the deals they have going on and all of the intricacies, nuts and bolts of wholesaling or investing period. I am gonna share my 2 very odd yet funny stories for the year so far.
The first house I went and checked out this year I walk up knock on the door and the gentleman who knows I am coming opens up the door and is wearing his favorite old pair of boxers. How do I know they are his favorite, because he hasn't thrown them away that's how! He proceeds to flash me about 20 times in 4 minutes and then his wife comes in and that's where it gets really funny. She asks me if the cold weather bugs me and I say a little, but I can deal with it. She pops off with well the cold weather doesn't bother him either he just hasn't grown since second grade when his dad got those underwear. That's the first time I lost my professionalism and laughed hysterically at a potential seller.
The second time happened just yesterday I was going to video some calls to or from seller leads and then I drew the wrong name out of the proverbial hat to video. This gentleman calls and I hit record and say hello, the call is going great and then I asked his reason for selling. This was a bad bad move on my part, he then lays it all out there. In some scenarios people say it's all or nothing I would have preferred nothing at all. "Todd" tells me that he is selling because his wife caught him pleasing a transgender male who hasn't completed the process. I cuss then I laugh and laugh some more and finally compose myself to hear, how beautiful a creature "Terry" is and how in love he is. I still haven't called him back because I laugh every time I think about him.
Don't just pay attention to the money you make, but the people you meet along the way. You might miss out on making some new great friends,or overlook your own funny stories to share with others.
