I get having the need for moderators... I always thought it was for advertising too much or bad advice...
I am amazed that its also for censorship..
Not certain why grown people, especially on a board, cannot disagree on how one presents their views...
I take the position that healthy bantering actually increases someones ability to communicate... And the idea that people can just post crap and get away with it because no one can call them out is rather weird...
As a guy who had a real estate forum I guess the politically correctness is important but lack of it also bring viewers back faster, thus increasing the site value from an advertising standpoint...
Actually still finding my way around... I need to hire a mentor just to figure out this site....
Thanks for the encouragement.
PS... How the heck do you turn off the notices of your own replies.. I like getting them when others reply but I am smart enough on most days to know when I replied... lol
thats a good question. When you create the thread you'll notice there is a checkbox to the right of the 'post' button but I don't think there is a way to turn off your own replies.
I'm on here enough that I uncheck it all the time and I just know I'll end up catching responses myself. It certainly helps from keeping my inbox overflowing sometimes.
Not sure what censorship you're referring to here, but we certainly remove / moderate posts where people troll and cause other problems.

I have several thousand posts, and I've been censored several times. I don't ALWAYS agree, but I've always gotten the reaon for the censor when I've asked the mods. NEVER has the reply not made sense to me. Just like the IRS, I may disagree with the reasoning, but if I want to play in that arena, or BP arena, I abide by all decisions. I'm very comfortable with this. Rich
To avoid the flood of emails all together, don't select the notify check box at all.
When at the opening "Recent Forum Activity," use the grey bar, and the drop down list under "Forum" which includes options for "Posts Since Last Visit" (same as Recent Forum Activity, except it includes other forums, such as political, etc) and "My Posts" which is list of threads that you have posted in, and who has recently posted there.
The emails arrive because you have the topic selected for "monitoring". By default, the initiator of a topic has this selected; I believe the intent behind that is to help keep the replies on topic. When you go back to a thread that you no longer wish to get emails on, uncheck the "monitoring" checkbox near the top of the page; you don't have to post any further to make that happen.
Now, if you want to filter out just the replies that you yourself have posted, but still get an email when somebody else has posted - I don't believe that it is possible to do at this point in time. You might want to start another post in the "site questions" forum if you want to see this kind of behavior; discussing it further here would be getting too far off topic.
And if you have any other questions that you would direct at a "BP site mentor", then post those in the "site questions" forum - you gain the entire member base as potential mentors; some of whom will know some solutions or workarounds for whatever is troubling you regarding the BP site.
Now, as to your original post in this thread: Sometimes you will find that people are thinner skinned than you expect. Sometimes you'll see solicitations that are embedded within a post that is mostly following the rules. Just a couple of cases where pieces of a post or an entire post gets removed.
I even had one removed from the recent "yellow letters" thread where I just passed along how to use the BP photo galleries. Confused me a bit as to why, but it is what it is.

Received a PM from mods explaining the post removal from the "yellow letters" was due to a massive cleanout in that thread; not because I had been bad :)
Another tip. For anyone for anyone who runs a full time mentoring business and is new to the forum. Be prepared to "do your time" with this crowd. It's not a reflection on you, just a reflection that many of the active users here, yours truly included, have been burned by real estate educators in the past.
