I see plenty of advice about Lowes and HD. Does anyone have any experience with Lumber Liquidators? I walked into the local show room and saw better looking and better prices than what I shopped at HD.

Only for personal use, did some engineered flooring, hand scraped, and it turned out amazing in my house. Was about $4k for 1000sf.
I have used them once for pre-finished 2 1/4 x 3/4 red oak. The wood was very nice but had a lot of short pieces but for $2/sq ft. it was worth it.
We almost went with them for some white oak, but right when we were ready to place the order the price went up about 20 cents/sq ft. We ended up going local and got a better deal.
They are great. Don't forget to check the closeouts!

I buy individual notes - all states, shapes & sizes.
I used them for my previous personal home and one of my rentals. I did a lot of checking around and I was happy with the price and quality of the materials. I had my flooring guy do the install and he was only had good things to say about the flooring.
Only have used them once when a client had purchased their flooring. No real complaints other than it had enough formaldehyde in it to choke me. Seriously, that lovely odor just rolled out when I started unwrapping the boxes. I am guessing it all comes in from Asia and is probably about as un-green as it gets.
I use them almost all on every job I do. Closeouts are great and if you create a realationship with your store you can get even better deals. On line is nice but the store has even more deals. Not only are their prices better but I also think you can get more for you money. They have some great flooring types that beat HD or Lowes.
Also you can check you local craigslists ads for liquidation stores. In my area there are a couple that have some great tile and carpet along with wood flooring.
I use them and you usually get it .10 a foot cheaper as a contractor.
