Wood Floor Splitting!?
I had my crawlspace encapsulated, and that involves a dehumidifier and a sump pump. Ideally, it makes a difference in the quality of the air inside the house and energy efficiency.
About five weeks after the job, I started to see some incredible cracking of the wood floor! It's an older heart of pine floor, maybe on the thin side. But it's probably like 100 linear feet of cracking, maybe more, a few millimeters to an eighth of an inch wide!
My question is, do you think that the drying of teh structural members of in the crawlspace could account for this!? It is shocking to see, but I can't think of anything else.
