Anybody had any experience with services like evoicereceptionist.com?
They are $30/mth for 800 number, 3 extensions, voice mail to email, 1000 minutes, etc.
They seem ok, but I'm looking for a less expensive alternative?

do you really need an "800" number. I use a magic jack and its 30 bucks a year. It's not "800" but you can use any area code you want
hey peter, im in the process of setting up a # as well and came across two different companies that have great reviews and they are
1. ringcentral.com
2. gotvmail.com

Can you talk more about this. I am very interested. I see the commercials and part of me wants to laugh and the other part is saying this could be great. You seem as though you like it so far... You can pick your area code? Can it go to your cell phone any way or is it just the home phone?
I am trying to figure out a good place to go through that is pretty cheap where I could get a local number that can be fed to my cell.
For all interested I have tried & tested several services.
My favorite by far is GotVmail, because they have the most minutes for the buck, most extensions, and their settings are very advanced and flexible.
Another good and cheap one that most haven't heard of is Kall8.
For a simple and highly flexible 800 system, it is by far the best and cheapest. However it gets pricey if you want lots of extensions, etc.
If you want to save $30 on gotVmail PM me.

Also for bandit signs, hands down don't use 800 #'s. I've tested the same signs in the same exact locations, changing only the phone # from local to 800, and found local outpulls toll free like 3 to 1.

Paul, I have heard it is bad to use your home phone or cell phone directly on bandit signs. Do you just have another line coming into your home, or do you use just use your original cell or home line? I personally wouldn't see it being a huge deal but was told otherwise.
Any other thoughts out there on using 1-800 numbers?
I'm forming a wholesale biz and keep going back and forth on the idea??
Chime in and let me know....
