Instead of the popular corrugated bandit signs with wire stakes, I'm looking for 9X12 plastic signs that I can staple to telephone poles. It should be a bendable plastic material.
Anyone know of a company that makes these?

You know what might be a better option.
Just buy the coroplast signs, take a small paddle drill bit and drill 2 or 4 small 1/4 holes in the sign, near the middle. Then go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy large zip ties. This will allow you to zip tie the signs to your local municipal poles or traffic signs :)
If you look around, very few poles are still wood and stapling usually isn't very effective on metal. Tie straps will hold up longer.
Ok thanks. Most of our poles are still wood. My main concern is that the wind here is pretty bad and my experience is that they will fold to where you can't read them.
Maybe I'll use aluminum........jk
You could try bandit signs. Haven't used them, so can't recommend them one way or the other. But they have 100 9x12 "econoboard" (whatever that is) signs for $97.
Chris,
I used Bandit signs. They are great. The signs looks really good and thier prices are reasonable.
They also have, which is what I use for telephone poles, horizontal piping so they don't snap right down the middle. These are ideal for hanging on telephone poles.

To put them on poles you order them with
horizontal flutes....
Use roofing nails to secure them...
I pretty much don't put them on poles as it tends to make the cities madder than normal...
However they do last awhile that way...
A suggestion would be to use a separate number, voice mail and bandit sign for the ones going up on poles...
I think bandit signs just get torn down. You can also get in trouble with the city.
The only problem I have with Bandit Signs.com is that they put their logo on EVERY sign they make. Not a good Idea. Let me explain.
Sooner or later you'll start pissing people off with your signs. Don't worry, that's normal, it's just the nature of the beast. The last thing you want to happen is for your local authorities to call Bandit Signs.com and force them to disclose your contact information.
Now Bandit Signs.com says they will never do that to their clients and I believe them. However, they have to follow the law and if push comes to shove, in the end, they'll have to cooperate with the authorities.
Now, what are the chances your local authorities would take it that far? Probably slim to none, but if no one knows where the signs came from, there's no chance of it coming back to haunt you later.
Don't get me wrong, I use bandit signs myself, I just don't buy them from www.banditsigns.com and thats the only reason why.
I wish bandit signs.com would give their clients the option of removing the logo. (HINT, HINT), ( David, you listening?)
Jose...
We brand our product...
And will continue to so...
We are the Kleenex.. of our product..
(in fact you'll soon, likely see distributors in your neck of the woods)
The municipality would have to file a lawsuit in a completely different state...
Do you know how hard it would be to
sub poena phone records..
Locally... a detective kept calling our front office... and asking about customers... of course we said we don't know... and the truth is... we don't have a database that correlates number on the bandit sign with person...
The number on the bandit sign is static art and not in a specific file...
So, there is no way for us to know...
And even if we did we aren't going to give you that info...
Anyway.. I got into the conversation with him personally at one point...
Turns out he was assigned to the case of solving the bandit sign mysteries..
I told him there was a simple solution... make them legal for a fee and I would email folks in that area that they could comply and my guess is they likely would....
I said if they take you to court if you give them a fine... it will get dismissed..
in the higher courts due to "free speech" and you can't allow politicians and builders "free speech" and disallow other businesses selectively..
He said He knew...
At one point we were to meet and try to work out an agreement with the city manager....
It never happened... guess he moved on to bigger cases than the bandit signs..
So, Jose...
My guess is our little bitty logo in the far right hand corner saves more folks than causes harm...
Because occasionally we get a call from other states telling us to stop putting out bandit signs and we say.. we are a located in another state.. and we ship them nationwide...
Sorry we can't help you...
They think we are the ones that put them out as well...
That's good for our customers.....
"not a bad thing"
With our new pricing structures... their is no one that can come close to our prices...
Heck, we sell a bandit sign custom printed with stakes included for under 2 bucks..
Right now other sign companies are calling us complaining....
We just got 16,000 sq. ft. of building space... up from 4,000...
Who knew that when I simply wanted a way to pay for my marketing "way back when" and had a screen printing background it would go this way...
I certainly didn't....
But, Jose...
Regardless of where you get em'....
They work... and if you run the numbers...
It costs around .03 an hour to use them....
That math is "good enough"
I understand your point David. As a matter of fact, the first bandit signs I ever put out were from your company (yellow & red, my friend gave me a few to try out) they worked great! Keep up the good work.
Vista.com does all kinds of signs and direct marketing things. You might check there. Otherwise, just look in your local yellow pages. Just about any sign company will do special order stuff.
I just ordered David's 25 free signs (pay shipping, I think it was like just under $15)
I don't think I'll care if his logo is on it, but it was pretty easy to navigate through his site and place the order. I'll place them and see how it works. I figured after all the crap I started with David I could at least give his banditsign biz a shot.
I'm sure I'll order more after this try. I've got a bird dog that I can make place the signs for me, I'll post up later with results.
Can't beat the price. I put my order in too. :D Stay tuned I'll let you know how it goes.
I went ahead and ordered the corrugated signs from bandit signs.
However, I ordered them with the flutes going vertical which do not hold up in the wind very well if you attach them to a pole. I'll use them on the ground instead. I ordered 100 more with horizontal flutes and they work much better. I would suggest buying the h-stakes though because the stakes they come with suck.
The bad news is that they are cracking down on the signs in my town and the DA is actually putting together a case against the investors using these signs. I'm not talking about your "run of the mill" type of city fine either.
So I basically wasted a couple hundred dollars that I could have used towards a different marketing avenue.
Oh, and yesterday I walked into a local sign company to ask how much they charge for the same sign and they said $25 per sign or $15 per sign if I ordered 100. There is no comparison when it comes to price!
I received the Free 25 signs from BanditSigns.com. I was very pleased with signs, and the results were very good.
I would definitely recommend BanditSigns.com and I will be ordering more.
Thanks David! :D
I'm just wondering/worried because I want to start putting out signs in my area.
The best way to beat the wind is to have the flutes of your bandit sign (assuming you're using coroplast) horizontal instead of vertical. Then punch 4 holes in the center of the sign approx. the same width the pole you're placing your bandit sign against and thread two zip ties through. For additional reinforcement use either roofing nails or heavy duty "Arrow" staples from Lowes!
This should hold your signs in place against the elements extremely well.
Spending more money to buy aluminum signs is cost prohibitize since bandit signs don't usually have a long lifespan.
Darn it! Free signs are out of stock.
Anyhow, I was thinking that a combination of horizontal and vertical fluted signs would be a good package as I (in particular) want to put signs in the ground as well as on poles.
I also figured that I would try it first and then see if anyone from the city complains. ;)
There are lots of good ideas here, btw.
Bandit signs will give you all sorts of headaches with the sign police. Witness Designs is a fairly good supplier. You may check to see if they have what you are looking for.
